The Simpsons Go Postal
After 20+ years on the air and 24 Emmy awards later, The Simpsons are joining Elvis and Santa Clause by adorning your junk mail. On April 9th, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie will each grace the new 44 cent stamp. I think this is all just a ploy to divert us from the fact that mailing a letter is now going to cost us close to half a buck!. Didn't they just raise these things not too long ago? They only way I'm feeling good about buying a stamp for that much is if instead of The Simpsons staring back at me, it was the girls of Bay Watch.....MMMmmmmm...Boobie stamps.Labels: comic books, off beat

Dark Knight Hoodie
Back in October we reported on the super cool Star Wars hoodies from Marc Ecko. Not to be outdone, Superherostuff.com have gotten their hands on this bad boy from Gotham. We checked earlier and it seems that they're sold out at the moment, but it's still worth a look.
Check it out here.

Spiderman The Musical
Spiderman is awesome! Musicals, not so much. For some God-forsaken reason someone thought it a good idea to put the two together and forever change the way we see the web-slinger. Evidently, when he's not crushing skulls and kicking ass he's singing and dancing...to show tunes! I knew hanging out with Mary Jane would lead to nothing but trouble.Marvel has announced that the production "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark" will be opening on Broadway Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at the Hilton Theatre. If that's not surreal enough for you, U2 will be writing the score! I guess Bono must have found some down time in between saving the world and promoting another shitty U2 album.
Perhaps if we all cross our fingers and pray really hard, Clay Aiken will get the part of Spidey - there's a good chance that he will fall from the rafters to his death.
If you hurry now, you may still be able to get advanced tickets, though you may need to push down a few "ClayMates", or just go here.

OMG! Batwoman Is A Lesbian!
When Detective Comics #854 drops this June, there will be a new caped crusader patrolling the dark streets of Gotham. With Batman missing and presumed dead, Kathy Kane will don the cape and cowl, protecting the innocent from the nefarious denizens of the troubled city. This iteration of the rarely seen hero has fiery red hair, skin tight black leather, an ample bosom, and indeed,...she kissed a girl and she liked it. That's right, when she's not kicking ass
Written by Greg Rucka with art by JH Williams III, the first five pages were included with the program guides at this years New York Comic Con. In case you missed it or simply want to see it again, Rucka has posted them on his blog. Though only a few know the quality of the writing, the artwork is amazing.
Kudos to DC for having the balls (or in this case the lack there-of) to make this a reality. Perhaps if we all cross fingers and burn our copies of the L Word in sacrifice, the Batwoman and Wonder Woman lesbo crossover will also materialize.

Free Online Original TMNT Comics
The Teenage Mutant Turtles exploded in popularity when I was a kid. They were everywhere, on TV, in the movies, in commercials, they even cut an album for Pizza Hut. But, it's in the comic book shops that they were the coolest. Before they were transformed into cute cuddly heroes for the nations Saturday morning cartoon viewing youth, they were crude and violent indie comic book heroes. And they were awesome! If you have never had the chance to see the turtles in all their black and white glory, now is your chance. The official TMNT site is now offering up 17 of the original comics for your online viewing pleasure...free. So, go grab a pizza and some nun-chucks, it's Turtle Time.

Virtually Free Comic Books
Marvel has a web based comic book program that allows you to read the new and old from their vast collection of the past 60+ years, while online. Drawing from over 5000 different comics, Marvel offers up such required reading as the first appearances of all their popular characters, origin stories, series by artist and writer, first runs, etc... Of course there's a monthly fee of $4.99 that goes along with all that heroic goodness. However, I wouldn't be writing this post if that's all there was. The good folks at Marvel have included quite the library of free comics for your perusal with no strings attached. The Dark Tower #1, Amazing Spiderman #1, Civil War, Ultimates, and a slew of others are available for free now. Hurry though, as they change weekly.Geek out via: Marvel.com

Read Comics On Your iPhone
Digital media distributor ClickWheel.com has inked a deal with Apple to make available digital comic content to the iPhone. The Clickwheel Comic Reader application is now available to download for free from Apple’s new “App Store” on iTunes, which allows users to download comics directly to their iPhone without the aid of a pc.We visited the ClickWheel site and were impressed with the variety and amount of comics in their archive. Some memorable titles include 'Fetus-X', 'After School Knife Fight', 'Hyper Death Babies', and 'Like a Teapot to the Back of the Head'.
Being able to bring all these comics with you on the bus is great, reading these titles aloud on the bus is even better.
